Dental practice offices we serve:Medical Malpractice Insurance:
There is little difference in cost between a $500,000/$1,000,000 aggregate malpractice insurance policy and a $1,000,000/$3,000,000 aggregate policy. For maximum protection in the event of a multiple patient suit you can have higher coverage for just a few hundred dollars more a year.
General Liability Upgrade:
Be sure your policy contains general liability coverage, as well as coverage for automobile accidents caused by your employees in their cars doing your errands. If an employee goes to the bank to make your deposits and has a wreck, it is your wreck. About 50 percent of the policies we review do not have this important coverage. We recommend $2,000,000/ $4,000,000 of liability coverage at an average additional cost of $50 per year for the general liability upgrade. The increase for the employee auto liability upgrade should be about $100 a year or less.
Worker's Compensation Insurance:
We suggest putting all of the dentists in your practice on your worker's compensation insurance plan. In many states, the doctor can get up to 60-70 percent of the first $45,000 to $70,000 of income paid to them during a total disability claim.
Equipment Breakdown Coverage:
The dental work you perform depends on the reliability of your office's sophisticated equipment, X-ray machines, computer imaging systems and more. This specialized coverage can help pay to repair your expensive dental tools if they malfunction. It may also help replace lost income and other expenses related to equipment breakdowns.
Business Interruption Coverage:
If a storm or other unexpected event requires you to temporarily shut down your practice, this insurance can replace your business income, based on past profit records.
